Retail Notebook: Fashion retailer A’Gaci to open in Plantation

A’Gaci plans a grand opening at Westfield Broward mall in Plantation.

A’Gaci offers women’s apparel, from active wear to party dresses, most of it priced for less than $50. A’Gaci launched in 1971 and has expanded to 69 stores in nine states and Puerto Rico. The San Antonio-based retailer plans to open 20 more stores across the U.S. next year.

Westfield Broward is at 8000 W. Broward Blvd.

U-Haul partners with shipment agency in Tamarac

U-Haul trucks, towing equipment, moving boxes and other relocation supplies are now available at Latino Envios in Tamarac.

The moving company signed a partnership with Latino Envios to establish it as a neighborhood dealer serving the Tamarac community.

Latino Envios is at 5321 N. State Road 7 in Tamarac.

Mexican restaurant closes in Fort Lauderdale

Hot Tomato’s has closed its doors in downtown Fort Lauderdale.

The restaurant near Subway, in the 401 E. Las Olas Blvd. building, used to sell Mexican food to Fort Lauderdale’s downtown breakfast and lunch crowds. The owners could not be reached for comment.

Art galleries open in Boca Raton

Stewart Fine Art Gallery opened at 5501 N. Federal Highway, Suite 3, in Boca Raton, a block north of Yamato Road.

Stewart Fine Art features pieces from world-renowned glass artists.

Griffin Art Gallery also opened at 5501 N. Federal Highway, Suite 4, in Boca Raton. Griffin showcases art and artifacts ranging from prehistoric through contemporary times. Its offerings include pieces from Greece, Rome, Egypt, pre-Columbian cultures and historic Native America.

J. Jill opens in Boca Raton

J. Jill has opened a store in the Nordstrom wing at Town Center at Boca Raton.

J. Jill retails women’s sweaters, dresses and knit tops. Handbags, scarves and jewelry also are available. The brand launched in 1959 and now has more than 260 stores.

The Boca Raton mall is at 6000 Glades Road.

McAlister’s Deli to expand to Palm Beach County

McAlister’s Deli plans to expand its presence in South Florida with franchised restaurants in Palm Beach County.

The Atlanta-based restaurant chain says it wants to add locations in the West Palm Beach and Boca Raton area through franchise partnerships.

“Florida represents an important part of McAlister’s growth strategy and we’re excited about the brand’s continued expansion into the state,” said Jeff Sturgis, McAlister’s vice president of franchise development.

McAlister’s has more than 350 restaurants in 27 states across the U.S.
